Why Use An Exoracing AN03 Turbo Oil Feed Restrictor?

Maintaining a consistent oil flow is crucial to ensuring the best performance from turbochargers. It is important to note that ball-bearing turbos have a different cartridge design than journal-bearing turbos, and consequently, they require a lower flow of oil.

This is where oil restrictors come into play. Without a restrictor, oil leakage through the seals is inevitable. Therefore, installing an Exoracing oil restrictor immediately is highly recommended to prevent further oil leakage.

Using an oil restrictor prevents oil leaks and enhances boost response by minimising the oil windage in the bearing. To achieve maximum efficiency, the oil pressure entering a ball-bearing turbocharger should be between 40psi and 45psi, depending on which turbocharger you use. However, many engines have higher oil pressure, creating the need for our 0.035"/0.9mm restrictors.

Exoracing AN03 Turbo Oil Feed Restrictor Installation Guide:

Installation of our Exoracing turbo oil feed restrictors is quick and easy if you follow the step-by-step guide below. If you are unsure of any steps or are not confident installing this yourself, please get in touch with a professional.

1. Firstly, ensure the turbocharger is cool to the touch to minimise the risk of injury and burns.
2. Ensure the turbocharger's thread is 7-16"-24 UNF and that you have a female AN03 fitting on the end of the oil feed line.
3. Drain the oil to reduce the chance of spillage.
4. Start by removing the oil feed line and any existing fittings on the top of the turbocharger that are currently installed.
5. Install our Exoracing oil feed restrictor using a 14mm socket or spanner and tighten it until it seats correctly or to manufacturer specifications. Be careful not to overtighten, as this can damage the fitting or turbocharger.
6. Install the oil feed line to the top of the fitting and tighten it using the same method as above.
7. Fill the engine back up with oil, and if it is a brand-new turbocharger installation, prime the turbo with oil before starting the car to lubricate the bearings.
8. Run the engine through a few heat cycles, periodically checking for oil leaks from the fitting.
9. Make sure the fitting is tight once more and/or retorque to factory specification, and you're all done!
